Culture: A far more brilliant pen than mine

Perhaps it is a war-weary politician ratifying a peace treaty with an enemy nation, or a powerful business negotiator authorizing a new deal with a partner, or even an artist who wants to sign a magnum opus. A grand event such as these requires a certain amount of grandeur and class right down to something as simple as a pen. What sort of pen are these people going to use? Montegrappa understands this need and has been meeting this challenge for a hundred years. And as part of the company’s centennial, CEO of Montegrappa Mexico, David Eskenazi, is presenting the “Palacio de Bellas Artes” (Palace of fine arts) pen to the Mexican institute of the same name.

Montegrappa hopes that the pen won’t just contribute to the fine arts, but wants to celebrate it as well. Available to the public will be a total of seventy eight limited edition pens with the finest of craftsmanship on any “boligrafo” anywhere. Each one is decorated with artwork on the pen itself symbolizing the history of the institute. Engravings of the very same building the Palacio de Bellas Artes is being named after, a taste of the mystical and the legendary with the inclusion of some Aztec glyphs, and some patriotism with the colours of the Mexican flag on the pen cap make it an appropriate homage. All this done with an incredibly skilled and steady hand on a canvas made out of silver. Intrigued and curious customers who wish to acquire this limited supply pen will be delighted to know that it is available in both fountain and ball-point design; making the best of both worlds available to the pen manufacturer’s illustrious clientele.

Montegrappa has been in the business since the year 1912. Just to give a little context, this is the year when the famed ship RMS Titanic set sail, China abolished its thousand year old monarchy, and Europe still ruled the world using the old system of Empire. The company has been witness to a changing world for over one hundred years. Constantly evolving, never staying the same, Montegrappa has a long and proud history to celebrate with the marketing of this pen. So it is only fitting that the very same people who shaped the world in those one hundred years often had a Montegrappa pen in their hands.
