Fuorisalone is a group of exhibitions and events taking place during Milan’s internationally renowned Design Week, happening from April 12th to 17th.
This year’s Fuorisalone is undoubtedly one of the most popular events in Milan, as for one week the Italian metropolitan city will come alive with creative instillations, special events and interactive venues all dedicated to the art of design.
During this festive event, the world’s largest luggage maker Samsonite will be presenting “A Voyage in Lightness” by Lanzavecchia + Wai in their Milan Samsonite Store in the city centre. “A Voyage in Lightness” is a striking installation using design tools capable of implementing a narrative storytelling process that stimulates the viewer, conceived for a poetic interpretation of the innovative Curv ® material used in the latest Samsonite luggage.
Lanzavecchia + Wai is a creative Italian-Singaporean collaboration between Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai. The designer duo earned their Master’s in Design from the renowned Design Academy in Eindhoven and they won the Time to Design – New Talent award in 2009.
The material in use is Curv ®, very strong and light, known to be very powerful due to its flexibility and impact resistance; also used in the manufacture of ice skates, car underbody and body armor. “A Voyage in Lightness” is a reference concept of light correlated to this innovative material.
