Art Paris Art Fair at the end of March for modern and contemporary art is bringing over 120  from 15 different countries to the city of lights. The fair takes place from March 29 to April 1, 2012 at the grandiose Grand Palais. The art fair focuses on promoting European art scenes with special attention to historical events over the last 30 years as well as more recent events.

With new leadership this year, the fair has undergone major transformations. This year features 56% newcomers to the fair with 40% foreign ownership. Also, featuring a new VIP program of visits called “Springtime in Paris,” which consists of a new section dedicated to cutting-edge contemporary design entitled “Limited Edition.” Another novelty to the fair this year is a project called “Large Format” exhibiting nearly a dozen monumental works at the center of the fair.

“Springtime in Paris” is a program specially organized for the fair’s VIP guests offering private access to major events of the art scene this spring. This includes showcases such as “Neon: who’s afraid of red, yellow and blue” at La Maison Rouge, “Joel-Peter Witkin: Enfer ou ciel” (Hell or Heaven) at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, “Ai Wei Wei : Entrelacs” at the Jeu de Paume, “Resisting the Present, Mexico 2000/2012″ at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and more.

Aiming to explore relations between art and contemporary design, “Limited Edition” is open to all forms of artistic expression. Organized by expert Bénédicte Colpin, the “Limited Edition” section brings together a selection of progressive galleries such as Pierre Alain Challier, Galerie Matignon, Slott Galerie and White Moon Gallery.
