One is the only portrait that exists, besides the one on display in the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid, Dali made his friend Bunuel. In this “relic”, which is dated 1923, we can see the genius artist uses the technique of splitting cubistizante, which is a clear example of its inception in surrealism and Dali also confirms that, before his trip to Paris in 1924-which joined the European Surrealists such as André Breton, Yves Tanguy and Max Ernst was already using the technique.

The importance of this unique exhibition is on the detailed selection of pictorial representation made by the gallery. Hence, as explained Josep Gómez Turu, founder of Gomez Gallery Turu although the date of departure is 1923, has included a painting done in 1918 entitled “The War” and belongs to the period “Dada”, because the importance and relevance of this movement was, because very few pieces are known Dalí with this influence. Its iconography expresses a scene of desolation of the First World War Goya dyes. Besides its uniqueness in the universe Dalí is the first time can be viewed publicly.

Similarly in the path of Turu Gomez Gallery can also enjoy an extraordinary portrait done in charcoal titled “Gypsy Figueras”, This work with a clear influence “Sunyeriana” is the forerunner and high canvas exhibited at the Museo Reina Sofia with the same title.

As a curiosity it is remarkable a work entitled “Cruz psychedelic” and has an interesting history: Gala Dali and his wife travel to the United States in the sixties and when they move to New York department store finding boxes that were used in gift wrapping and were lined with plastic. Currently there would be nothing new but now fascinated Dalí. He managed to contact the manufacturer acquiring a large amount of this plastic plates inside with a mesh-like network lenticular and Dali used to make collages and perform their work on this support. This optical lenticular material found it very helpful in getting movement, light and three-dimensionality.

The exhibition “A Tour 1923-1967, Salvador Dali” is composed by twenty-three valuable works and can be visited at the Gomez Gallery Turu Street 325 Council hundred Barcelona until January 9, 2012.
