American film-director, writer and artist Tim Burton is taking his talents to Paris with a retrospective of the exhibit created in 2009 by the Museum of Modern Art in New York dedicated to his unique artwork. The artist, who is famous for his dark, quirky-themed films, has over 700 works on display including drawings, sculptures, short films, costumes, and film props.
The gothic creativity of the artist can be seen as viewers enter the surreal world of the retrospective. The lonely little monsters, boggle-eyed creatures, and dancing corpses for which Burton is famous illustrate the journey though his life’s work while allowing viewers to escape reality. Nearly 500 of the artist’s uniquely captivating sketches and gothic creations jump off the paper giving us insight to where he got his starting points for many films.
The retrospective will take place at the Cinémathèque in Paris from March 7 to August 5, 2012 and is not something to be missed.
