Fashion: Deadly Ponies: Senorita Bandits

Drawing influences from Latino girl gangs, Senorita Bandits takes bad girls to an entirely new level for Spring/Summer 2012. Paying homage to the chola aesthetic and true Southern California style, complete with tattoos, bandanas, and alligator skin, this is a collection set to turn the girls on each other. The colours reflect a new edge, with some bold choices for spring like a dusty pink and canary yellow, but quite possibly the most notable inclusion this season is the designs of renowned tattoo artist Stefan Sinclair. His unique work depicting horses parading features prominently throughout the range. Deadly Ponies – perfect for a night out with the gang.

Deadly Ponies represents the creative world of fashion designer Liam Bowden. With a passion for sculptural arts, crafts and tactile design, Liam continues to grow the world in which Deadly Ponies lives. From the moody well forgotten childhood, DP’s vision integrates a world of mishmash thoughts and ideas drawing inspiration from the world of the enchanted forest. Each unique piece is lovingly created entirely by hand, from a carefully selected assortment of leather, to the stitching and hammering of hardware.

Designed and made in New Zealand, Deadly Ponies offers an eclectic collection of handbags, wallets and jewelry all featuring top-quality materials and workmanship. Every piece is slightly different from the next, with its own idiosyncrasies delightfully reminding us of the beauty of leather. With one foot in high quality and the other in layered design, the constant re-working means these pieces blur the line between high-function and high-fashion. The outcome is always to be treasured; enticing even those anti-bagists to venture out and carry something DP.

Senorita Bandits Spring/Summer 2012 is a bold mix of new colours alongside intricate prints and woven detailing giving this season a bad girl edge. Gold embossed patch tattoos puff proudly throughout the range and embroidered crosses make subtle yet unmistakable appearances. The moss chain returns looking killer in canary yellow and dusty pink, and if that isn’t enough, the ‘Croc’ and ‘Gator’ pieces are just dangerous. Mean girls unite.
