April 14, 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the devastating sinking of the Titanic. In order to commemorate the anniversary, Henri Abele, one of the oldest, most prestigious names in the industry, presents the Titanic Cuvée. Henri Abele was elected by the Titanic Foundation as the official champagne of the centennial since it served at the very last supper aboard the luxurious ship on April 14, 1912.
This exquisite champagne was created specifically for the occasion by Henri Abele winemaker Frank Nicaise. The brut cuvée is prepared from an assortment of classic and prestigious Chardonnay and Pinot Noir along with a small amount of Pinot Meunier producing a fresh, fruity, elegant champagne.
In the framework of the 100th commemoration of the sinking, Henri Abele made 100 special bottles for the Titanic Foundation. These bottles are arranged in a chest and each is numbered and engraved with the name of the person who purchased it at an auction held online by the Foundation last January.
Peter Bonet, Director of Communication for Henri Abele, explained, “it is an honor for Henri Abele to participate in this important event that allows us, in turn, remember part of the history of the brand.”
Henri Abele will only be producing 4,000 bottles of this exclusive limited edition champagne.
