On 8 September 2011, the first European Shang Palace restaurant opens in Paris. It is really something Paris was waiting for: a chic restaurant dedicated to the sophisticated flavours of Cantonese cuisine. That’s exactly what Le Shang Palace at the Shangri-La Hotel delivers… and in style.
The fine dining restaurant offers authentic Chinese cuisine originally inspired by South East China’s culinary traditions. A main room and three private dining rooms named for the Tang, Ming and Qing dynasties are available.
With mahogany screens and backlit jade columns, the atmosphere is very exotic, as is the menu, which includes herb-based soups, dim sum (delicate filled dumplings or rolls) and braised bird’s nests. Other unusual discoveries include steamed chicken with black truffle and dates and “Monk Jumps Over the Wall” (a clear broth of poultry, pork, seafood, abalone, fish guts, chicken, ham and dried scallops). Set lunch menus: €70 and €98. Evening tasting menu: €120.
The Cantonese head chef Frank Xu, a veteran of the industry from Shenzhen and honed his skills in restaurants at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, debuts in the group’s first gourmet Chinese restaurant in Europe.
Experience a unique culinary journey full of genuine Asian traditions in the heart of Europe.
