The current Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which formerly was called Olympus Fashion Week, will start next week. Since September 2010, Fashion Week has been held in Lincoln Center (previously, it took place in Bryant Park). Lincoln Center is located between West 62nd and 65th Streets and Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues.
At the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week over 70 amazing designers will present their latest collections for the coming season; spring 2012. Big names in the fashion world include; Nicholas K, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and many other top designers.
The schedule of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was already determined but there has been a small change made. Designer Marc Jacobs fashion’s show had to be moved to a later date on the New York Fashion Week due to the Tropical Storm Irene. Marc Jacobs would be showing his 2012 spring collection at the New York Fashion Week originally on Monday the 12th of September but it was moved to Thursday the 15th of September. The Marc by Marc Jacobs show has also being moved. This has just been announced by Jacobs CEO Robert Duffy. Due to the arrival of the storm Irene last weekend he could not (enough) work on the collection. Fortunately, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week schedule changed, because no one wanted to miss the new spring collection by Marc Jacobs.
On the 8th of September 2011 there will also be organized the Fashion’s Night Out from 6-11 pm. Fashion’s Night Out offers the public a fun opportunity to shop late as Fashion Week begins. In addition to being open late, there are DJs, giveaways, cocktails and more at select stores during Fashion’s Night Out. At the site you can check all the ways to shop and have fun!
