Salvador Dali Inspires Montegrappa’s Latest

The absurdness lends itself to a certain beauty in the pen

A tool for the true artist and art lover, Montegrappa has created a stunning ode to Salvador Dali with its latest instrument, the Montegrappa Genio Creative Series – Salvador Dali Limited Edition. As a premier, world-renowned manufacturer of writing instruments, Montegrappa really out did themselves with this magnificent and extravagant fountain pen.

Using the surrealist painter as inspiration, the pen’s design stems from Dali’s painting of the Pulcino Della Minerva, which was one of Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s most noted sculptures, and adds to the rich art history apparent within the design. The elephant motif in each of these works was selected to guide the design of the luxurious pen.

For this elephant, Montegrappa’s designers have wrapped the creature around the barrel of the pen in both a deep Mediterranean blue celluloid, for its silver edition, as well as a regal malachite green, for the solid gold edition.

Pen collectors will be entranced by this beautiful instrument and its subtle details. Found within the inner barrel of the pen, a quote from The Secret Life of Salvador Dali is placed upon the pen.

To further commemorate the great Dali, Montegrappa is only manufacturing 989 roller ball pens and 1000 sterling silver fountain pens, so as to add up to 1989, the year of Dali’s death. Additionally, 61 fountain pens and 19 gold roller ball pens will be manufactured to pay tribute to the year Dali created the striking The Space Elephant, in 1961.

Each pen is encased in an egg shaped box, the shape referencing Dali’s images for love and hope.
