“I love the confidence make-up gives me” supermodel Tyra Banks once famously said, and when the lip colours and nail varnishes and rouges and shadows are from Chanel, there is little doubt that it will do so. Les Essentials De Chanel is the brand’s autumn 2012 make-up collection. Peter Philips, creative director of CHANEL Makeup, has given a twist to the iconic house codes with a new intensity for the face and a variety of looks for the eyes. Here is a lowdown on what the collection holds for you.
Ombre Essentielle – A single eye shadow in a small rectangular case and comes in five different shades, ‘Noir’ being the sexy stark black. Other colours include Complice – a very natural and soft peach, Eclaire – a sheer gold, Furtif – a pale romantic gray and Infini – a light eye-opening silver eye shadow. Each is priced at Rs 1800
Les 4 Ombres – The Premier Regard Quadra eye shadow expresses the Chanel colour world: intense black, beige, tender pink and slightly scintillating taupe gray, available for Rs 3100
Stylo Yeux Waterproof – This smudge free eye liner used to line the inside of the eyelid or drawn along the base of lashes is ideal for emphasising all the delectable eye shadows and is available in two shades—Silver Light and Noir Intense. Each stick is priced at Rs 1500.
Lumiere D’Artifices – Chanel’s new illuminating powder with shimmer Lumiere D’Artifices (Rs 3700), is ideal for prolonging the impression of sun-kissed skin into the midst of autumn. The chic case opens to reveal delicately iridescent shadows with golden scintillation. Two shades of beige, one light and the other more intense; blend together for a perfectly sheer and natural result on the skin while the fine golden sparkles accentuate prominent areas of the face. For Cheek bones Rose Initiale is another luminous satiny blush.
Rouge Coco and Rouge Coco Shine – For luscious lips Chanel has introduced a new shade to its easy-to-apply texture and range of timeless shades in Rouge Coco (Rs 1950). Named Caractére the shade is a dominant brown set off with a dash of violet plum. Rouge Coco Shine (Rs 1950) – their shinier range of lip sticks has introduced Chic, an almost transparent beige shimmering with fine golden sparkles and Parfait which is a tender pink with a touch of gold. Le Crayon Levres is their lip liner that complements Rouge Coco range of lipsticks perfectly.
Gloss – Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss is all about extremes. Ultra-shiny and concentrated with pigments, Troublant (a bold violet-plum brown) and Caprice (a delicate pink with a hint of gray) are brand new shades. Levres Scintillantes – the brilliant and extreme gloss range by Chanel also has a new addition – Sweet Beige (Rs 1700).
Les Vernis – Three exciting new additions to this collection of nail colours. Vertigo is an almost black laquer, contains a heart of red pearly particles that reveal themselves according to the light. Suspicious focuses on the feminity of fuchsia and finally Frenzy, which is a lilac gray, a hue that plays with subtletly. Each bottle costs Rs 1450.
