Etros Spring Summer 2014 menswear collection, brought to life the legend of Zorro. Rugged, outdoorsy, and with a touch of whimsy, Kean Etro recreated the swashbuckling tales of desperados and brought to life the Mexican riding tradition of Charreria in a show that charmed with Etros superb attention to detail.
In tones of camel and blue, colours that evoked the sierra of the Chihuahuan Desert, sombre hombres strutted their habits down a chocolate-hued runway against a watercolour scene graphic video backdrop. They wore suits in indigo, aged leather, corduroy with leather and suede accents, leather and straw Bolero hats, cowboy boots, textured belts, seersucker pastel shirts in mint and sky blue with Etros trademark paisley motifs, and impeccable detailing, all came to the fore. The silhouette was form-fitting, with narrow pants and jodhpurs that was a nod to an equestrian theme, seen in prints and embellishments through the collection. What stood out were the digitally printed saddles on suede-print shirts, and metal horseshoe clasps that held a jacket together.
The dandy also made his appearance, in impeccably striped suits and shirts in rose pink rendered more macho with leather bullet holsters slung carelessly across the body or worn as belts (only this time, there were flowers inside, not bullets). Arabesque patterns were spotted swirling across aged leather jackets, and two-tone suede intarsias. There were also Aztec-embroidered shirts, snakeskin-print jackets, and some wonderful printed indigo shirts with contrasting foulards that recalled the aesthetic of Santa Fe. All in all, a collection any hombre worth his tequila, would be happy to sport.
