Last December, Mirari refrained from its favoured use of India-inspired designs with coloured gemstones to create diamond-heavy jewellery pieces that borrowed from white French lace. “Lace is an evergreen trend that has constantly prevailed over the years. We wanted to pay ode to the classics and conceptualize a collection that captures nuances of the fabric and weaves a story,” says Mira Gulati, founder of the brand. Drawing upon Victorian influences, 12 pieces have been created with delicate detailing to epitomize, what Gulati refers to as the fabric of femininity’. It took a team of 25 workers six months to deliver this line of which the necklace was the trickiest to create.
Priced at Rs 17 lakh – the collection starts from Rs 2 lakh – this necklace features 27-emerald-cut diamonds and 540 round-cut diamonds that have been laid in the 18-karat white gold body using prong and micropavé settings. Another exquisite piece is a pair of earrings priced at Rs 5 lakh that employs 241 diamonds in similar settings. Intricately designed, handcrafted wires loop around to form the frame of each ornament, akin to the mesh of the lace.
In keeping with the dainty fabri it symbolizes and Mirari’s trademark for easily wearable jewellery, each polished piece is light to wear, and can be customized to suit the wearer’s requirements.
