Art & Culture: A Musical Friday

It is the perfect beginning to the weekend, with beautiful monsoon weather and great music. Alliance Française de Delhi, the Indo-French cultural centre, will be holding a music festival, called Fête de la Musique (a festival that started in France on June 21, 1982) in Delhi on Friday, June 21. Also known as World Music Day, every year, this day is dedicated to celebrating music not only in France, but in over 100 countries across the world.

This year, the festival comes to Delhi. To be held in Hauz Khas village, the celebrations will start with a Band Competition (open to all, from students to amateurs to professional artists), and the winners will get a chance to perform at different venues. This will be followed by two official musical acts, by bands ‘Then and Now’ and ‘Raagleela’ on the streets of the urban village, followed by many more such musical performances spread across the village. A perfect way to bring music lovers together, and have a splendid time!
