Events: BRIDAL CHIC

Divya Gurwara, CEO of Bridal Asia recently hosted a high tea at Japanese restaurant TK’s at the Hyatt Regency in Delhi, for the Capital’s chicest ladies, to present designer Mandira Wirk’s bridal collection, and jewellery by Paayal Gupta. Bridal Asia 2013, one of Asia’s biggest expositions on bridalwear and accessories, is celebrating 15 years, with select previews and parties leading up to the event slated for October 5-7, at The Ashok, New Delhi.

Photographers thronged the entrance of TK’s, to snap pictures of model Sonalika Sahay, Sonu Wassan, Ramneek Pantal, designer Monisha Bajaj, PR maven Gunjita Dhawan, and fitness expert Vesna Pericevic Jacob, who were all attired in lehengas and layered anarkalis in velvet, silk, chiffon, jacquard, georgette, and touches of net. While Vesna and Ramneek showed their toned midriffs in crimson and pink lehenga cholis, Sonu’s jacket-sharara flaunted a peekaboo net back. This year, Mandira Wirk was inspired by the Palace of Versailles in France, which showcased the opulence of the 16th- and 18th- century rococo and baroque art movements in jewel tones of royal blue, ruby, and emerald green.

Paayal Gupta’s pieces were a big hit with the ladies. The Bentley College, Boston-trained jewellery designer’s collection combined diamond and jewellery pieces, with lots of pearls, emeralds, and rubies. Gunjita sported a particularly stunning polki multi-strand neckpiece that received several compliments.

Also seen at the afternoon fest were Sheena Sharma, Sushmita Agarwal, Seema Jajodia, Neena Verma, Thenny Mejia, Ala Madhu, Nishi Singh, Rashmi Virmani, Kimmi Tej, Vinita Nangia and several others. Designer Nisha JamVwal flew in all the way from Mumbai, and was dressed in a fuchsia ombre lehenga with lace detailing. She said she was looking forward to being in the Capital for a few days, as she was hosting a jewellery event that week. Mandira Wirk looked serene in a pink and orange ombre sari with a stunning maang tikka, while hostess and ever-elegant Divya Kapoor Gurwara cut a chic figure in a figure-hugging sapphire blue strapless corset gown. As the ladies sipped wine and nibbled on delicious tarts and Japanese tempura, the mood got more and more jovial, as the party wore on well into the evening.
