In the age where art is considered an alternative investment, luxury brands often embrace the world of art. In one such endeavor, Artline, an organization which patronizes established and upcoming artists, is collaborating with International Furniture Brands to present an exhibition of contemporary Indian artists.
This curatorial project of Artline showcases a collection of paintings of the highly acclaimed veteran Murli Lahoti, the impactful canvasses of the renowned Bua Shete, the dynamic works of Vijay Dupatre and the sensitive, fantasy laden renderings of Nilesh Pawar.
Curated by Artline’s principal curator, Ranjana Dani, the venue for the exhibition is the plush retail store of International Furniture Brands, which retails some of the world’s finest luxury furniture brands at MG Road.
The works of the four Pune based artist are being shown collectively for the first time in New Delhi.
On display are the works of the nationally acclaimed artist, Murli Lahoti, whose work encompasses nature, figurative and abstract, as seen in the series ‘Cosmic Creations’. His work has been seen in 116 solo shows and 135 group shows.
Bua Shete’s work is a play of colors & figuration, intercepted with animal forms and icons on canvas, replete with a vibrant narrative tone. His work is an imprint of the juxtaposition of his rural upbringing with modern urban values.
The beauty of the human form in its multifarious serene moods & postures inspired Nilesh Pawar to paint ethereal figures that are the central focus of his work. Metallics add a fantasy element to the canvas. The half tone is a painstaking process of rendering within stencil cuts.
Vijay Dupatre’s work is textured and scribbled with calligraphic writings, which give depth to the larger than life size forms. The Brahmin’ series is an echo of the grandeur of the golden era of a powerful clan, apparent in a vibrant, gold and red color palette.
