The launch party of Manish Arora’s Summer 2012 Collection, recently held at the designer’s Lodhi Colony store was a riotous affair with a melee of buyers and guests fawning over Arora’s Summer 2012 Collection that was showcased at the Paris Fashion Week in September 2011. Attendees at the stylish soiree were treated to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while the Medieval Punditz set the groove for the evening with their trademark electronica fusion.
The fashion fraternity came out to show their full support to the designer whose creations have been worn by top celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Heidi Klum, and Katie Perry; in attendance were Sunil Sethi, Gauri Karan, Kalyani Saha, Pankaj and Nidhi, Nandita Basu, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rakesh Thakore, David Abraham, Amrish Kumar, Pia Pauro, as well as other prominent faces which included the likes of Anushka Menon, Jivi Sethi, Aman Nath, and Rekha Purie.
The collection takes inspiration from the joie de vivre of the 60’s with the silhouettes flowing into easy and relaxed shapes with a pleasant mix of blousons, tents and semi fits where the boundaries are blurred to reveal a futuristic note. The clothes are embellished with innovative touches and embroideries including Iridescent patchworks, 3-D black/white swirls, florescent 3-D wire work juxtaposed with the traditional cross-stitch, hippie fringes, frayed edges and swish feathers.
