Gadgets: Alfred Hitchcock's 'Vertigo' inspires Montblanc

The legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock once said -“What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out.” Keeping those dull moments aside, luxury brand Montblanc recently unveiled two limited edition writing instruments, inspired by the most intense and memorable scenes  from Hitchcock’s films – Vertigo, The Rope and Psycho.

Montblanc Alfred Hitchcock Limited Edition 3000

The dark staircase featured in his masterpiece “Vertigo” (1958) influences the overall design of these pieces. The textured dark precious lacquer of the cap and barrel of the writing instrument creates a special effect reminiscent of the “vertigo effect”

The sinister knife from the 45-second shower scene from “Psycho” (1960) is featured as the clip of the pen. It also features 53 hatch marks symbolic of the movies directed in a career spanning nearly six decades. The neon sign of the director’s self-portrait sketch in the “The Rope” enriches the 18K rhodium plated solid gold nib. The rope sinuously wrapped around the fountain pens cap and barrel rings and cone, refers to the murder weapon.

The Limited Edition 3000 is available in 146 size Fountain Pen (3000 pieces) or Rollerball with marathon refill (3000 pieces), both with 925 Sterling Silver Settings.

Montblanc Alfred Hitchcock Limited Edition 80

Montblanc Alfred Hitchcock Limited Edition 80 in 750 white gold (80 pieces) features the dramatic swirling vertigo effect in black lacquer and red, reminiscent of the crime scenes of his films. In addition, the “Psycho” knife clip is laden with diamonds.
