Gourmet & Nightlife: House of Flavours

Christmas is in the air. So The Leela Palace has decided to celebrate the occasion with special theme menus and a warm, inviting décor that includes a gigantic gingerbread home sitting in the lobby of the hotel next to a mammoth Christmas tree. The gingerbread home, sculpted by the award-winning executive chef, Glenn Eastman and his pastry team, took a whopping 120 man-hours to finish. The house is made of 3,000 bricks of freshly baked gingerbread on the outside and 900 larger gingerbread tiles on the inside. It is further adorned with edible wreaths, and has one metric tonne of icing, traditional glass balls, stars, and bells, along with other gold foil decorations. Pity one can’t devour this yummy home.

However, you can dig into other gourmet hampers that The Leela Palace’s pastry chef has been creating for the occasion. The hampers include handcrafted Santa-shaped chocolates, muffins, plum pudding, sugar cookies, fruit cakes, mince pies, ginger breads and more, sold through the hotel’s retail store Amalya. Restaurants at the hotel – The Qube, MEGU, and Le Cirque will also offer special menus on Christmas eve and Christmas day.
