Motoring: A Notch Above

The 16th of April saw Audi launch a special edition of the Audi A6 in Mumbai to commemorate the sale of 6,000 vehicles of the A6 model (also its largest global-selling car) within six years in the subcontinent. Priced from Rs 46.3 lakh onwards (ex-showroom New Delhi), the new A6 is available in two engine variants – 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI – and features “top elements from our flagship Audi A8,” says Michael Perschke, who heads Audi India. “The equipment which the new Audi A6 has as standard is a segment first – thus it offers maximum value in its competitive segment.”

The Adaptive Air Suspension of this special-edition model comes with four driving modes – Comfort, Dynamic, Auto and Individual – collectively known as Audi Drive Select, to deliver a more customized driving experience. This is enhanced by an enhanced MMI (multi-media interface) system known as MMI Touch that also features a special remote, and according to Audi, allows users to operate several functions easily, and without having to take their eyes off the road. “The front co-driver’s seat adjustment is a feature we took from our successful A6L in China and adopted it specifically for the Indian market,” says Perschke. Also included in the model’s nine new features are a 14-speaker Bose Surround Sound System, rear side air bags and LED headlights that boast an approximate lifespan of 10,000 hours.
