Swiss watch manufacturer Zenith has gone the retro route by revisiting and reinventing some of the company’s classic designs from the 1970s in their recently launched Espada series. And now, in a well-timed move to target those watch aficionados who are likely to get nostalgic about these once-famous timepieces, the company has released the first watch from this collection – the Zenith El Primero Espada – Rose Gold watch, with Father’s Day right around the corner.
If your dad is passionate about exquisite timepieces then he’s likely to recognize this exclusive watch’s lineage from the famous El Primero caliber. The ZENITH El Primero Espada features pure design aesthetics in tune with the times and proclaims the poetic, timeless nature of its predecessors (with a name aptly drawn from the Esperanto language). Designed in an almost academic manner making no concession to secondary details, the watch’s perfectly integrated movement combines a modest size with excellent reliability and precision. The position of each plate, each gear train and each part is optimised, and no less than 210 components drive its mechanical self-winding El Primero calibre 4650 B movement. Like all El Primero calibres, it beats at the exceptional frequency of 10 vibrations per second, or 36,000 vibrations per hour. It features a 40 mm diameter and a massive 50-hour power reserve.
The Zenith El Primero Espada is by no means cheap: retailing at Rs.7,53,500 ( you could buy a couple of Rolexes in that much), but it is singular. A bit like your dad.
