What started individually with simple activities, just making a significant impact on reducing greenhouse gases and influence climate change. It was the initiative that was first held in 2007 by the World Rildlife Fund (WWF) Earth Hour. An event that has become a movement, more than 5,200 cities and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour 2011, launching a powerful message inviting to act on climate change.

On Saturday March 31, Hilton Diagonal Mar will celebrate Earth Hour 2012 from 20.30h to 9:30 p.m. local time while thousands of people and organizations around the world turn off their lights to support the mobilization against climate change. Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona and many of the more than 3,800 hotels in the Hilton Worldwide brands participate in this event that will mobilize an estimated 1,000 million people worldwide. “We are pleased to join this global effort that invites organizations and individuals around the world to turn off the lights in a symbolic way to support energy conservation,” said Ignacio Rodriguez, General Manager of Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona.
Earth Hour will be celebrated with various activities among which a blind dinner where guests will sit blindfolded for a delicious surprise menu with the four remaining senses. It turns off the lights in the front of the hotel and the logo outside light from 20:30 h to 21:30 h, was suspended two of the four elevators are replaced and some sources of artificial light candles in certain areas of the hotel.
