Motor: Jaguar changing its spots

American singer songwriter Lana Del Rey was present at the event. She performed her latest track titled “Burning Desire”, which was inspired by the F-Type and will be featured as the soundtrack to a short film about the new car models.

Much to the delight of Jaguar’s loyal customer base, the brand has opted for more of a sportier appearance.  A bullet-like design is the dominating feature of the F-Type.  The design of the two seater’s chassis makes the car look very similar to the BMW Z-4 and the famed Aston Martins of James Bond lore. And since we’re on the subject of James Bond, the car also features an electronically deployable spoiler. Assume we are not joking when we say “Q” would be proud.

However the design talent was not exclusively applied to just the exterior. Upon release, the F-type will simply be one of three models available within the class. The other two models include the F-Type S, and the F-Type V8 S. The model the class is named after is fast in its own right; but the other two are capable of demonstrating much more. The F-Type S model will house a three litre V6 supercharged engine capable of reaching 60mph in 4.8 seconds and topping out at 171mph. The V8 S, the most powerful of the F-Type class, will (as the name suggests) be using a V8 supercharged engine. This engine has the ability to reach a mind bending speed of 186mph, and it only needs 4.2 seconds to reach a speed of 60mph.

Jaguar has officially entered the uncharted jungles of sports cars. Last September’s presentation has showed the world that this cat can in fact adapt to any environment.
