Motor: Vintage Disney Ferrari for sale

This stunning red beauty featured alongside “Herbie the Beetle” in the 1968 children’s film about a humble Volkswagen. The story follows the Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own from the showroom to the racetrack, defeating the Ferrari.

The Ferrari 250 GT LWB Tour de France was original build in 1956. A very extraordinary car, the Italian Ferrari Company only built nine models. Therefore nowadays one of the world’s most wanted cars. It now has been put in the open English market for 15 times its original value.

Built by Scaglietti and designed by famous automaker Pininfarina, this car is a real piece of art. It picked up its Tour de France title thanks to its excellent performance in the famous 10-day road race for cars, not to confuse with the famous cycle contest. The Ferrari dominated the race between 1956 and 1962 by winning the race seven times.

The “Love bug” Ferrari was sold new to property developer Tony Parravano who lived in the USA. In 1965 Walt Disney’s studio found its way to it an later DK Engineering bought it and restored it in its old condition before selling it back to the USA. After 15 years in the USA, Talacrest has now shipped the Ferrari back to the UK.

John Collins, who is selling the car, said; “this kind of Ferrari is very rare, hardly ever comes onto the market. With just nine of them built and already two of those crashed, it’s a really extraordinary model. An incredible sought after car.”
