Many famous perfumes are using the word “oud” in their names, and even in their components: Out Wood by Tom Ford, Oud & Bergamot by Jo Malone, Secret Oud by Caron, Crystal Oud by Harrods Swarovski, and even now Dior with Leather Oud.
Indeed, oud is really appreciated and sometimes called “the wood of gods”.
But, what is oud? It is an archaic tropical wood growing in South Asia. Oud is often used for medicine as an antipyretic, and it is also considered as the greatest aphrodisiac among the essential oils! First, oud was used in Arabian perfumes, but it is more and more spread in the western perfume industry. The assets of such in ingredient are multiple, and our remind us a mix of ingredients: the sweetness of honey, the sourness of plums, saltiness and bitterness.
Due to its rarety and a high demand, oud is expensive (1,5 times of the value of gold)and such a luxiurious ingredient, for luxiurious fragrances.
Dior decided to mix it with leather for a warm and spice odor. The result is: a burnt and animal effect. Try as soon as possible this unusual experience, and get it on
