Eva Herzigova
Eva Herzigova wore the stunning necklace – a cascade of heart-shaped, briolette-cut and brilliant cut diamonds – paired with a marvellous white gown while ascending the customary steps on the opening night of the most recent Cannes Film Festival.
MARILYN MONROE AND CHOPARD WERE DESTINED TO CROSS PATHS Along with the necklace, she wore a grand pair of earrings set with heart-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds. The sparkling glimmer of white gold vibrantly conveys the star’s charming radiance.
Born Norma Jean Baker, Marilyn Monroe attracted the attention of 20th Century Fox with her legendary splendour. In the 1950s, she starred in films by the greatest directors of the era – including Fritz Lang, Billy Wilder, John Huston
and many others – and became the ultimate glamour icon.
Nonetheless, she felt herself imprisoned by the widely held dreamlike view of her as the supreme sex icon. Her intellect and compassion were battered, leading to regular attempts to break the moulds in which people tried to place her.
This dramatic way of living helped inspire Caroline Scheufele to create a jewellery collection of timeless elegance.
Twenty-five unpublished photographs of the star were also presented at the festival. Taken by Milton H. Greene, the photographs tell the story of the poise, the mystery and the almost transparent vulnerability of an extremely photogenic star with a thousand different facets.
Milton H. Greene saw the woman rather than the diva. The sense of mutual appreciation between Marilyn and Milton is also patent in the choice of more unexpected settings.
Marilyn Monroe and Chopard were destined to cross paths and this encounter has given rise to a new vision of the star and of the diamonds she might have worn
SUMMER 2012
Marilyn Monroe left the film industry 50 years ago devoid of her talent and legendary beauty. At the 65th Cannes Film Festival, Chopard presented Marilyn Forever - a remarkable jewellery collection designed by Caroline Scheufele in honour of the star, along with 25 unpublished photographs by Milton H. Greene.
Considered one of the greatest actresses of all time and an iconic figure, Marilyn Monroe earned huge fame in Hollywood after starting her career as a fashion model. Her captivating beauty made her stand out and the theatrical intensity with which she lived her life made every event one that achieved legendary status.
To celebrate the Hollywood goddess at the 65th Cannes Film Festival, Chopard unveiled a remarkable jewellery collection designed by Caroline Scheufele.
Caroline Scheufele was inspired by the darker and brighter sides of Marilyn Monroe’s life. Because her life was legendary, an equally legendary stone was necessary. What better than diamonds to pay homage to the woman who sang Diamonds are a girl’s best friend?
