Türkçeİstanbul’u hiç görmeyen bir yabancıya İstanbul’u nasıl anlatırdınız?
Öncelikle İstanbul’un eşsiz boğazından ve Rumelihisarı’ndan söz ederdim sanırım. Rumelihisarı’nın, İstanbul’un en güzel göründüğü, insanın kendini denize en yakın hissettiği yer olduğunu düşünüyorum. Benim çocukluğum Rumelihisarı’nda geçti. Evimizin önünde yüzmeyi öğrendim. Yüzerek karşıya bile geçerdik, elimizle midye ve pavurya toplardık. Bunun yanısıra İstanbul Modern’e gidip sonrada Karaköy lokantasında yemek yemek, Sabancı müzesini’ni görmek ve sonrasında Changa’da yemek yemek, Le Meridien Otel’in Roof Bar’ında birşeyler içmek yada Otel Sultania’nın Roof ’unda Olive restaurant içinde yemek yemek gibi aktiviteler de İstanbul’da yapılması gerekenler arasında. 3 kelimeyle Kendinizi nasil tarif ederdiniz?

I would like to talk about your agency.
What kinds of events have you organized so far and in which fields do you provide services?
Devrialem.biz is one of the leading companies in special and boutique projects sector. We develop projects to organize activities, events and conferences for corporate and private companies, targeting their audiences. We aim at conveying the brand message to the targeted market and provide maximum customer satisfaction. We
have organized various events such as concerts, conferences, hip-hop dance shows, sport events and many more. To put it briefly, have all kinds of unique activities in our portfolio that prioritize to reach out to the targeted market.
There are a lot of event organizing companies in Turkey. What differentiates Devrialem.biz?
What do you do different to maintain your success for all those years?
I think the secret behind our success is meticulous and disciplined work. For me, every single detail of an organization is extremely important. Sound, lighting, service, performances…They all come together to create a whole. The most important element is the guests. Because, regardless of the nature of the organization, our primary aim is to offer a pleasant time to the guests that corresponds to the brand’s vision. Our purpose is to differentiate the events we organize from others and provide maximum impact.
Event organization is not an easy job and it is not limited to office hours. You may be needed any time of the day and you have a very busy schedule. What do you do to relax and refresh yourself in this busy tempo? What do you like to do in your spare times?
I really like to be in nature. My favorite hobby is to go to trekking trips around the world. For instance, Peru, Costa Rica, Katmandu… I love to travel, sail and go for a swimming holiday at Cunda. Anything that makes me feel as part of nature appeals to me. Also sineterapi (ingilizcesini bulamadım) is one of my favorite hobbies.

People in entertainment industry know her name very well and those who don’t will get to know her very soon. The President of Devrialem.biz, a company providing event management solutions to a number of national and international brands, Melisa Çakarlar talks about entertainment industry, her plans and Istanbul.
Those who know entertainment industry well are closely acquainted with the name Melisa Çakarlar. You have organized countless projects varying from brand launchings to international events. We would like to get to know you better. Who is Melisa Çakarlar?
I can describe my job as an event counselor, brand manager and producer. After graduating from the Econometrics department of Marmara University, I went to the University of New York for a post graduate degree on communication arts. Upon completing my education I worked at Ridley Scott Association for 4 years as a producer, taking part in the creation of commercials of well known brands like Nike and Armani and music videos of Eric Clapton and Terror Squad. Later, I continued my career as a producer at Sussan Group in New York. After I came back to Turkey, I cooperated with ANS to complete the New York episodes of the famous TV series Asmalı Konak. Before the establishment of Devrialem.biz, I continued organizing boutique events for private companies. Since 2005, we have been organizing events for a number of national and international brands such as Cartier, Hillside, Vodafone and Borusan at Devrialem.biz.
